Oh this is normal in Italy and the professor ask everything! Usually happens after a written exam with open questions, and then you try to increase the written exam score with the oral exam. My professor used to say “it’s not enough to write the correct answer, you have to demonstrate that you understood everything” 😅

Italian here, it's the best way to actually learn things. I have had only oral exams (24 for one degree, 12 forn another and 6 for each master I got) and it helped me with critical thinking so much.

I remember one girl got the wrong century for the moon landing in feont of everyone, there was a long silence the professor would just be writing stuff letting it sit for so long until he finally looked at her and failed her

the fact that u are allowed to use smart devices in the hall guys, changes alot. cause we are not allowed 2 use nothing beside blanknpapers they give after jntering exam area and only for several minutes before the exam
