🚨 Handling shady behaviour👇 When you work with someone who does things that feel sly, shady or leave you questioning their motives it can feel really difficult to address. Particularly if it’s something that wouldn’t necessarily be apparent to those around you. Like the example shown in this video where someone is explaining things to you that they know you already know in front of others potentially to lead other people to doubt your credibility. I’d recommend addressing this calmly, respectfully and directly using these 3 steps: 1️⃣ Share the behaviour you’ve noticed factually and ask them what the reason is for the behaviour 2️⃣ Give concrete examples 3️⃣ Call it out by sharing how you’re interpreting their behaviour and the impact. A good way to do this is to share the story you’re creating to make sense of it. For example: “When [INSERT BEHAVIOUR] happens I’m telling myself a story that the reason you’re doing this is [INSERT] and I’m really hoping that this story isn’t correct because [INSERT IMPACT] With someone displaying behaviours like this keep in mind that they may continue to deny it and may not appear particularly receptive. However a conversation like this might make them think twice about doing this again. 💬 Leave a 🙌 in the comments if this was helpful 👀 📌 Please remember the advice offered in this video is generalised and will not fit every situation. There are different ways this situation could be approached so please use your own judgement and adapt it as you see fit. 💾 Save this for when you might need it ✈️ Share with someone you think this could help 🚀 Follow for more tips on handling tricky situations at work #worktips #leadershipdevelopment #corporatelife #emotionalintelligence #communicationskills #difficultconversations #difficultpeople #assertivecommunication
