He always had black sunglasses for that scene and my favourite character in my teens in the 80s, Alf, recreated that scene in the open scene and he also wore sunglasses copying Tom Cruise. And ET never said "home phone" that sounds ridiculous! It was always phone home.

ET one is false - he says et home phone, then he’s corrected by Elliot and then he says ET phone home. So this classic quote is completely in the film. You’re just cutting it off early. . Risky business though, he doesn’t wear the sunglasses In the dance scene. He wears them in the film in other scenes, promotional posters, costumes and marketing around the film includes the sunglasses, so that’s why we associate Tom cruise with the ray bans and risky business and mis remember this scene.

Absolutely incorrect. I saw Risky Business on release and have it on DVD and Bluray, he never wore the sunglasses, however what you’re remembering are the parodies released afterwards that had the glasses.
