@mamaaa9204: What if everyone thought you were possessed… and it ended up costing you your life? In 1976, a 23 year old German woman named Anneliese Michel died after undergoing dozens of exorcisms. It started when she was just 16 years old. She began suffering from seizures and was diagnosed with epilepsy. But soon, she claimed she was hearing voices. She said demons were appearing to her. As her condition worsened, she became convinced that evil spirits had taken control of her body. Doctors believed she was suffering from severe neurological and psychiatric disorders. But Anneliese and her family believed something far more sinister was happening. In 1975, the Catholic Church approved an exorcism. Over the next ten months, Anneliese underwent 67 exorcism sessions. Some of those sessions were recorded. The audio is so disturbing that people still debate it today. She was said to growl, scream, and speak in voices that terrified those around her. Then, on July 1, 1976, Anneliese died. She weighed only 66 pounds. The official cause of death was malnutrition and dehydration. After her death, her parents and the two priests who performed the exorcisms were convicted of negligent homicide. Nearly fifty years later, her case remains one of the most controversial mysteries in history. Was Anneliese Michel a victim of severe mental illness? Or was something else happening that no one could explain?
