@flolondon_: ARoS Aarhus Art Museum in Denmark has opened As Seen Below – The Dome, a major new permanent installation by artist James Turrell and the largest Skyspace ever created within a museum. Opening ahead of the summer solstice, the monumental work stands 16 metres high and 40 metres wide, making it Turrell’s 100th and most ambitious Skyspace to date. Visitors enter through an underground passage into a vast domed chamber where changing light and an open ceiling aperture frame the sky as a living artwork. The installation is designed to encourage reflection and a closer awareness of light, space, and nature. It is the centrepiece of a major expansion at ARoS and reinforces the museum’s international reputation. Behind the artwork is a major feat of civil and architectural engineering, delivered through a collaboration between Schmidt Hammer Lassen Architects, structural engineers COWI, and main contractor Per Aarsleff A/S.
