I never fry anything… ever. The last time I tried frying food was in college, and I accidentally started a grease fire making chicken fried steak. It scared me so badly that I’ve avoided frying ever since. 😂 But these homemade glazed donuts? They were absolutely worth facing my fear. They’re soft, pillowy, melt-in-your-mouth good — but still have enough substance to them that they actually feel like a REAL donut. And that glaze on top is perfection. What shocked me most was how EASY these actually were. Yes, they take some time because of the chilling and rise time, but the hands-on work was surprisingly simple. And when my son — who is a total donut connoisseur — took one bite and said, “Mom, these are the best donuts I’ve ever had… better than donut shops,” I knew this recipe was a keeper. We will absolutely be making these again. 🍩 Homemade Glazed Donuts For the Donuts • 1⅛ cups warm milk • ¼ cup sugar • 2¼ tsp active dry yeast (1 packet) • 2 large eggs, lightly beaten • 10 Tbsp unsalted butter, melted • 4 cups all-purpose flour • ½ tsp salt • Oil or shortening for frying For the Glaze • ½ cup butter, melted • 2 tsp vanilla • 4 cups powdered sugar • About 3 Tbsp milk or cream • Dash of salt 👩‍🍳 Instructions 1. Warm milk to about 105°F. Stir in sugar and yeast. Let sit 5 minutes. 2. Add eggs and melted butter. 3. Slowly mix in flour and salt until a dough forms. Knead/mix for about 5 minutes. 4. Let dough rest 10 minutes, then transfer to a greased bowl, cover, and refrigerate at least 2 hours or overnight. 5. Roll dough out on a floured surface to about ½-inch thick. Cut donuts using a donut cutter. 6. Place donuts on a greased baking sheet, cover, and let rise about 1 hour until puffy. 7. Heat oil to 350–375°F. Fry donuts about 90 seconds per side until golden brown. Donut holes cook faster. 8. Remove to paper towels briefly. 9. For the glaze, whisk together melted butter, vanilla, powdered sugar, milk, and salt until smooth. 10. Dip warm donuts into glaze and enjoy! #HomemadeDonuts #GlazedDonuts #FromScratchBaking #DonutRecipe #DeliciouslyBold
