This is why the reason and intent for doing something is just as important as the thing you're supposed to do. . Are you doing vfx to make a good movie or are you doing vfx because your shareholders said do to do it faster?

Thanks for the input but the VFX was the least of the problems with the Flash. The lead actor, director (Muschietti) and screenwriter are more to blame for that one.

I think a lot is the preparation too. Directors used to invest in planning, storyboarding & working with the fx teams. Then a "oh we'll fix it in post" mentality started. There was a movie that filmed a mall scene with the film crew in the background. They apparently expected the fx team to magically remove them. They ended up tracking shopping bags to them instead.
