@cluueyofficial: 🦍 In 1986, 5-year-old Levan Merritt fell into a Jersey Zoo gorilla enclosure, the silverback gorilla calmly stood guard until he was rescued. Fun fact: Jambo, the silverback gorilla at Jersey Zoo, became world-famous following this incident. When Levan Merritt fell into the enclosure and lay unconscious, Jambo placed himself between the boy and other curious gorillas, gently touching his back and even stroking his hair. He did not harm the boy. He waited until zookeepers arrived, then stepped aside. Levan made a full recovery and later returned to the zoo to meet Jambo's statue, as the gorilla had passed away in 1992. Unfortunately in 2016 another silverback gorilla, Harambe was shot dead in a similar incident where a boy fell into the enclosure. DM for Enquiries / Credit. #gorilla #hero #zoo #viral #History
