@_shxnvoid: For as long as Winter could remember, she had wanted a dog. Not just wanted. Obsessed over them. Karina knew this because Winter talked about dogs the same way other people talked about their life goals. Every day. Without fail. Sometimes Karina would wake up to pictures of dogs. Look at this one. Karina look. Look at his ears. LOOK AT HIM. Then twenty more photos would follow. At lunch? Dogs. Dinner? Dogs. Late at night when Karina was trying to sleep? Dogs. "Did you know Maltese dogs were originally companion dogs?" Karina blinked sleepily. "It's two in the morning." "But did you know?" And somehow— Winter would continue talking anyway. Karina never stopped her. Never once. Because the way Winter's eyes lit up whenever she talked about dogs was one of Karina's favorite things in the world. So she listened. Every single time. Even when Winter showed her the exact same dog video three times. Especially then. Lately though— Work had been overwhelming. Karina left before sunrise. Returned long after sunset. Barely having enough energy to eat before collapsing into bed. She hated it. Because it meant less time with Winter. One particularly exhausting evening— Karina finally returned home. Shoulders sore. Head pounding. She slipped off her shoes quietly. Ready to find Winter. Then she heard barking. Karina froze. Another bark echoed through the apartment. Followed by Winter laughing. Karina frowned immediately. "A dog?" She walked toward the living room. Half convinced some random stray somehow found its way inside. Then she stopped. Because sitting on the floor was Winter. And beside her— A tiny white Maltese. The dog ran across the carpet with a toy stuffed in its mouth. Tiny paws moving so fast it almost tripped over itself. It proudly dropped the toy into Winter's lap. Winter gasped dramatically. "Oh my God." The dog wagged its tail harder. "You're so smart." More tail wagging. "You deserve a Nobel Prize." The dog barked happily. Winter looked genuinely impressed. Karina almost laughed. Then she cleared her throat. Immediately— Both Winter and the dog turned toward her. At exactly the same time. Karina froze. Because somehow— They looked identical. Same wide confused eyes. Same tilted heads. Same expression. Even their blinking was synchronized. Karina stared. The dog stared back. Winter stared too. Silence. Then Karina pointed between them. "No." Winter blinked. "What?" Karina looked at the dog. Then at Winter. Then back at the dog. "This is ridiculous." "What is?" "You literally found yourself." Winter gasped. "I do not look like him." The dog tilted its head further. So did Winter. Karina laughed immediately. "You absolutely do." Winter looked offended. The dog looked offended too. That somehow made it worse. Karina doubled over laughing. Winter pointed dramatically. "See? He's judging you." The dog barked once. Like agreement. "Oh, you're teaming up now?" Karina asked. The dog jumped into Winter's lap proudly. Winter nodded. "Obviously." Karina shook her head fondly. Then finally walked over. And sat beside them. The exhaustion from work slowly disappearing. Winter immediately leaned against her shoulder. Karina smiled softly. Then kissed her forehead. The second she did— The Maltese climbed directly into Karina's lap. And stared. Expectantly. Karina blinked. "...What?" The dog scooted closer. Still staring. Winter immediately burst out laughing. "Oh my God." Karina finally understood. "No way." The dog placed both paws on her arm. Waiting. Demanding. Winter was practically crying from laughter now. "He wants one too." Karina looked at the dog. The dog looked back. Patiently. Karina sighed dramatically. "This family is unbelievable." Then she leaned down. And kissed the dog's fluffy little head. Immediately— The dog buried its face against Karina's stomach. As if embarrassed. For some reason. That made both women laugh even harder. Winter nearly fell over. "He's shy!" "How is he shy?" Karina laughed. "He literally demanded a kiss." The dog's tail thumped against her leg anyway. Completely pleased with itself. (continuation in the comments) #winrina #karina #winter #fyp

Eventually—
Winter curled up against Karina's side.
The dog squeezed itself between them.
As if determined to become part of every future cuddle.
Karina looked down at the two of them.
Her girlfriend.
And apparently her girlfriend's tiny fluffy clone.
Both half asleep.
Both completely content.
And for the first time in weeks—
Work didn't matter.
The stress didn't matter.
Tomorrow didn't matter.
Because right there—
In the middle of their living room—
With Winter's head on her shoulder and a tiny Maltese snoring against her stomach—
Karina felt something she hadn't felt in a while.
Peace.
She pressed a gentle kiss into Winter's hair.
Then scratched behind the dog's ears.
The dog immediately rolled onto its back.
Winter opened one eye.
"See?"
Karina smiled.
"What?"
Winter grinned sleepily.
"You love him already."
Karina looked at the tiny dog.
Then at Winter.
The same eyes.
The same stubbornness.
The same need for attention.
And honestly?
She never really stood a chance.
