Most people only start paying attention to their wrists when pain, stiffness, weakness, or irritation appears. By then, the joint is already struggling to handle the demands being placed on it. In Russian gymnastics training, wrist preparation is treated the same way as shoulder mobility, spinal stability, or hip strength. The goal is not simply to stretch the wrists. The goal is to develop strong fingers, resilient tendons, durable connective tissue, grip strength, joint awareness, and the ability to comfortably support bodyweight through the hands. This progression combines mobility, strength, compression, fingertip work, hanging exercises, and grip development to improve the entire chain from the fingertips to the elbows. Better wrist function often translates into stronger handstands, push-ups, planche training, rings work, pull-ups, muscle-ups, weightlifting, and improved upper-body mechanics in general.
