im probably gonna get canceled for saying this (and i intend no malice) but ive always found it slightly funny they made the naki non-binary when computers use binary programming in a lot of cases. also the fact this season is "zero-one" and play on the "ones and zeros" of binary language used by computers.

Super Sentai also gave us the first non-binary ranger who is part of the core team in Rita Kaniska/Papillon Ohger. This was in 2023’s Ohsama Sentai King-Ohger. Producers also confirmed in an interview that the character is “genderless” and the Wikipedia page affirms this by using they/them pronouns.

it's actually wonderful representation, in the world of zero one, humagears are just as gendered as humans, which makes sense when you consider they're invented BY humans. but the explicit transgender character is part of the rebel group, who defied their creators so hard they rejected the gendering their creators had put upon them. i just think it's a neat little thematic exploration of transition as subversion of the status quo

Fun fact: in 2015 we got one of our first bisexual character in Kamen Rider Drive, Go(the one in white) is confirmed to be in love with Chase(one in purple) and while he doesn’t label his sexuality his emotions are clearly stated to be romantic, he dreams of the two going on a date it’s very cute

It also worth mentioning that Naki is the only character in the show never to be referred to with any gendered pronoun in passing. The subtitles at least always using Naki where they'd probably use she or he for anyone else in the cast.
