The usual explanation I heard was because they can have different sales taxes in different areas. Which still makes no sense to me, the store obviously knows their tax.

If the store can figure out the tax at the checkout, they can figure it out to put it on the price tag. “Each state has different” yeah but the store you are in is in one place.

The taxes are included in our countries. I know America and Canada have varying amounts of tax per state but why can't that state just include their tax in with the price anyway. it must be so stressful at times if you have a very small budget.

That’s cause sales tax varies from state to state. So sales tax is not included on the price tag. That way they can advertise nationwide using one ad. I mean imagine a tv ad that says “get this now for just [check individual price in your state] what a deal!”
