I completely agree. In London, networking is often about access and relationships. I’ve been fortunate enough to visit places like Soho House, Annabel’s and The Arts Club, and I’ve learned that the hardest part is often starting conversations with people you don’t know. Unfortunately, I won’t be attending Wimbledon this year, but tonight I’m heading to a Louis Vuitton event. For me, networking is part of what I do—some of the best opportunities come from genuine conversations and meaningful connections.

I go to royal ascot every year, hang out at private members clubs etc, but I’ve never “networked”. Generally these are social scenes, you enrich your social connections often but not really commercial ones

Bang on, all true but useless if you don’t know how to talk to strangers and follow up to build on the new connections
