I think you would like Dom Casmurro, by Machado de Assis (a Brazilian author)! it's our classic unreliable narrator and it's also a great study in modern narrative, published just a few years after Dostoiévski's Notes from underground. :)

Gosh I really love your channel! First off we ask have an unreliable narrator running through it mind, second guessing our inner knowing. Also, the narrator wanting to see the story through eyes that are not sure of the outcome is also a great way of telling a story. It allows suspense and excitement.

I love unreliable narrators like this! it feels like the reader is constantly having to recalibrate what they think is true. Notes from Underground especially does that so well :)

You must add the catcher in the rye, you can’t really tell if Holden is a reliable narrator, i mean is he describing the world as it is? Or as it feels to him? Most importantly, the story is told after his breakdown, meaning he’s retelling events from memory and memory is selective, so I guess he’s not purposely trying to deceive the reader but he’s struggling to understand himself.

No but this book is so much. The unreliable narrator, hints of his dreamer.. his loneliness & self loathing but also his thirst for more. The whole point of awareness being an actual disease once you reach it… i loved it.

idk if it's just me, but i am always wary of narrators 😂 like i'm always thinking "really? 🤨" or "let me be the judge of that" while reading because i know humans are fickle and cannot be trusted anyways so let's hear it first (or in this case, read it first)
