How to stop doing this👇 ✨Boundaries are one of the most important things in life, whether with yourself, other people, work, tech, sleep, and in this case, health anxiety!
✨People with health anxiety often Google sensations to figure out what’s wrong with them. They find multiple possible diagnoses which fuels more anxiety. When a new sensation appears the cycle starts again. Over time, this feeds fear and keeps them stuck in a health anxiety loop. ✨Here’s how I help people set boundaries around Googling — and it depends on how deep into the habit they are. Some people can stop completely. Others need to reduce gradually. 1. Time boundaries.
If stopping isn’t possible yet, setting a strict time limit. For example: 10 minutes a day for three days, then 5 minutes for three days, then 1 minute on alternate days, then stopping completely.
 2. Frequency boundaries.
If someone is Googling multiple times a day, reducing the number of times. Going from many times a day to three times a day, then two, then once, then alternate days, then none.

If the urge comes up in between those times, they wait until the next planned time. If the urge passes, they don’t Google even when the time comes. This builds distress tolerance, and the better that gets, the lesser the anxiety becomes.
 3. Content boundaries.
Not looking up the same symptom or diagnosis repeatedly. If a person already has the information re-checking only strengthens the fear of that condition and can turn anxiety into obsession.
 4. Website boundaries.
Only use reputable website like the NHS. No forums. No Reddit. Etc. ✨Learn more in my book 📚Tools For Life. See the link in my bio to get your copy 😊 ##healthanxiety##boundaries
