for those who are confused there are multiple trllings of the odyssey most famous is the Greek and the roman. the roman tellings will make odysseus seem unfaithful and deceiving because the Roman's disliked the Greeks and their gods in the Greek telling odysseus is faithful to his wife and is actually held captive and forced by Calypso and cicre thus making odysseus a victim. its similar to the telling of medusa in the Roman version she was r@ped by posideon in Athenas sacred temple and from athenas jealous and as punishment she turned medusa into a gorgon making her unloved and unlusted but in Greek telling medusa was born a gorgon along with her 2 sisters. long story short Roman's hated the Greeks and made Greek heros and god/goddess look evil and unjust
