We got “scammed” in Thailand but then they actually took us on a nice boat ride where we found out we paid only 1/2 the price of the other people on the boat so ✊

The same happened to me, but luckily my husband is smarter than me. He just walked away after the guy drew the map and got the tuctuc and I was like, "what's wrong?!" He was like, why don't we just check to see if it's actually closed, that'll prove he's telling the truth. It, in fact, was open. whew, dodged that bullet!

same thing happened to us except we didn’t buy anything, still got to go to everywhere we wanted and the tuktuk dropped us off opposite our hotel when they tried to sell us the boat tour 🤣 like it was a scam but we were too cheap to actually get scammed if that makes sense

this scam is so prominent there's even signages outside the grand palace telling people the place is not closed and to ignore everyone who says it is

similar scam but had a great day 😂 I knew boat was overpriced but honestly in Ireland it would be double 😏 so I just rolled with it and got a tour of some cool places. guy outside grand palace tried to tell me it was closed and I walked away. They're ridiculous.

Omg this legit happened to me the other day🤯I’m a solo traveller and he would not even let me pass him to just look at the temple from the outside because it was ‘closed’ i started walking back where I came from once the tuk tuk driver got out and said he’ll keep the map and wait for me😅😅😅

We experienced this to the tuck tuck driver brought us also to a suit store and said he had to fill up the tuck tuck thing and we stopped at a juwelery store

Had the same happen but with only the boat because the road was « closed », we had plans to walk after so said no to the second ride which apparently saved us because the road was not closed at all and they would probably have driven us all over too 😅 We only used their version of uber (recommended by our hotel) after that so we could check they were taking the right road in real time!

You can go inside any of the temples freely. They are never closed (apart from occasion of rare death in this case) and anyone can go in. Ignore anyone and walk inside dressed appropriately
