Please please don’t give half the information on safety systems on the railways. Especially after an incident such as this. I get people want to talk about but please get the facts right of them. The wales crash had a completely different system in use and was put down to sanders not working. Please remember there are so many factors as to why this crash happened let the investigation be completed before speculating

Let the RAIB do their job. Everything they do is public and nothing is hidden. I’m a signal engineer if 40+ years and yes I have my suspicions but let them do their job. We are as safe as we are due to learning from previous accidents or near accidents. Let’s see if we need to learn from this also.

EMR have been reporting faults with there new trains for months one is sat at Kettering station and has not moved as it’s riddled with faults however EMR have kept them same trains running with known faults however this still doesn’t explain why the Corby train was crossed over on to the up-fast from the up slow when the signaller can see there is a train not moving on his panel up ahead also still to be explained is why if there was a train in the section why the Corby train has passed through not only a red signal but there is single amber and double amber signals before you get to a red so why was the driver not slowing down before he reached the broken down train it’s not just missing 1 signal it’s missing 3 many many questions to be answered I can only comment from working on the maintenance side of things but many staff are worked to the maximum being booked to work 8 out of 13 weekends every 13 weeks as well as more and more work being put on nights and the whole East Midlands route being told to follow a “modernising maintenance” program set up by higher management. Remember the rail strikes from staff and drivers a few years back the media constantly reported it was about money when actually it was to do with safety and working conditions is staff on the ground could see an incident like this coming for months however your told to “put up or shut up” drivers could see this coming aswell and the rail industry needs a change because if it doesn’t this will just be the start of these horrendous incidents
