I laid down a cheap 20ishx30ish tarp after the last season, then pulled it up before I tilled and planted. Pretty much wiped out all the weeds. Went around the edge with grass and weed killer for a hard line. Could have done it with a shovel but it worked.

I have raised beds in my garden, and I do not till at all. I pull out the weeds in the spring and then when I plant I dig a hole and I put in a handful or two of manure handful of fertilizer handful or two of compost and stick the plant in. Weeds are a pain, but they come out fairly easy because my garden has been in place for 37 years so it’s like potting soil.

do you mow the leaves up really fine with a mower? could you do the same with grass clippings, get them chopped up fine?

Heavy mulch and no till makes so much sense I can’t believe it’s only now becoming so common. The magic that happens under that covered ground is amazing. I tilled ground for two beds I wanted to have slightly mounded this year and the soil died and became too difficult to keep watered. Never going back

Last fall I didn’t let the town take my yard leaves. Instead I ground them up and used them as mulch in my garden and I went heavy in my garden walkways and placed mulch on top of cardboard. Best year of gardening ever with fewer weeds and healthy plants all around

I can deal with the weeds mostly but my real problem is the deer. I noticed you have no fencing. How do you deal with the deer? You may have already gone over this and one of your other videos that I may have missed but can you please help

Killing kills the microorganisms in the soil that feeds your plant anyways so if you’re killing them might as well kill your plants
