Heightened arousal and focus * When a cat is stalking or preparing to pounce, its nervous system becomes highly activated. * Adrenaline causes the pupils to widen, similar to what happens in humans during excitement or intense concentration. 3. Better depth perception * During the final moments before a pounce, cats need precise information about distance and timing. * Changes in pupil size are part of the visual adjustments that support accurate hunting behavior.
