Hey, I don’t know much about Minecraft resource packs and I don’t know if you could do this or if you need to make a mod for it but what if you try making a texture for every block like you know those different stages of the breaking texture that you had so what if you make like you take a block you make a texture what you know you put the breaking texture on it with the height map and then you make it so while you’re breaking the block replace it just like how you replaced the breaking texture you just replaced the block texture. I don’t know if that could help but I just wanted to see if I could help you.

transparent shader kicks in after all the height calculations are done, with their system. maybe there is a way to override the order for breaking animated faces

I don’t know how minecraft code specifically works but I’m a game dev and I think you could add a mixing pass where instead of giving the crack animation a depth you overlay it on the blocks height map before rendering
