Well, the women of the Odyssey are as important as men in the epic (if not more in some cases). That starts from the first line already, "Sing to me, Muse", the poet invokes a woman to tell the story for he's not worthy enough (something along those lines is also said in the Iliad). Athena sparks the plot, devises the plan, mentors Telemachus and assists Odysseus actively, Calypso is a main antagonist (and ultimately a helper), Circe is pushing the plot forward (if he didn't make amends with her Odysseus couldn't continue his journey home), Nausica is a savior along with the queen Arete (who is important to be talked first by Odysseus, to win her favor), Penelope, well she's one of the four protagonists, a sea goddess/nymph saves Odysseus from drowning, women are those who reveal Penelope's trick to the suitors, in general, women in the Odyssey are very important.
