@beccahallillustration: A couple of days ago I shared a photo of this little cottage in Fife on my Instagram stories and asked who everyone thought lived there…. And the answers were surprisingly consistent!! An old fisherman. His tiny wife. And a cat. I had also posted a picture of some boats and asked “which one is theirs?” - and the red one came out as the favourite! And it would feel silly to just leave it there and not DRAW IT! I started sketching little clues about the people who might live there - family photos, a well-loved cat portrait, an anchor hanging on the wall to signify fishing and the coast, a model fishing boat to link to the one they have in the harbour … And although the original house looked a bit different to my finished one - I felt it needed the sea in the background and some more bits outside to hint towards a story … One of my favourite things about drawing places is that a house is never really just a house. You start wondering who opens that blue door every morning, who’s lived there for years, and what stories are hidden inside... Swipe through to see how it all came together! Do you like what I’ve done? I’d love to know! 🫶🏼 I can already start to feel their story coming to life! #childrensbookillustration #procreate #drawingonlocation #sketchbook #illustration
