As we celebrate Fathers’ Day this weekend, Here’s a few words in form of a poem written with Dr Irene Mutuzo to celebrate all the Amazing fathers across the globe. You are special. Dear Dad, You are far much more than just a mere man. Far more than flesh and blood… Your love weighs more than words can carry, Not enough to be described by any dictionary. Dear Dad You are the roof through every storm, The fire that keeps our family warm. The anchor steady through wind and weather, Holding our little world together. Dear Dad, Baba, Tata, Daddy You are the truest picture of love I know, Written not in words, but in all you show. Through those early mornings. & late night drives, The silent battles. & daily strives, Working to give me more than you’ve ever known. Yet somehow making time To help me find my own. Dear Dad, Baba, Tata, Daddy, I now really, truly see you. So tough on the outside, yet tender within. The giant who rarely softens his skin. Can't sleep till you see my chest moving – you come close to me to see me breathing, Losing sleep when I catch a cold. Worried sick, yet you wear your courage, brave and bold. From the first day you send me off to school, To the first night I'm away from home. And on that day, walking me down the aisle, Praying he'll love me deeply like you do… Dear Dad, Baba, Tata, Daddy, My first best friend, my favourite playmate.. I wonder how you chose the most fun, yet riskiest of games Throwing me in the air, catching me with gentle care you were always there! Dear Dad, Baba,Tata, Daddy, You my father, carry a different kind of weight. Yet somehow, You keep showing up. Again and again. and Again… So Thank you For every prayer whispered. For every burden carried. For every tear hidden. For every sacrifice unseen. For loving me enough To become the man I am.
