I just hope the DSA doesn’t get so large that it becomes a new establishment in itself and leaves room for a further leftward push instead of crystallization around what it is now

I’m nervous that she’s playing everything too safe. To me, it’s less about the lack of endorsements and more about the fact that she isn’t doing enough traditional media. If she wants to run for president (which I think she does) she needs to be going on Fox News and CNN far more often. While I personally like AOC more than Ro Khanna, one thing Ro does really well is go on live TV and clearly explain his policy positions. He did a particularly good job this past week discussing the Iran war and the peace deal. He explained that the U.S. needs to get out of Iran as soon as possible, that this agreement is the next best step given the current situation, and that it was a mistake to get involved in the first place. He also connected it back to Trump’s first term and the decision to withdraw from the JCPOA.

AOC’s endorsements have been quite strategic, not only targeting open seats but also competitive districts with progressives running (Randy Villegas in CA and Sam Forstag in MT). That will be very important to making the case for the electability of progressives

AOC has managed to maintain incredible polling among all democrats. Despite her political positions, she is seen as a mainstream Democrat by centrist liberals in a way Bernie never could. She’s been careful, but it’s for this reason. She hasn’t been demonized by the party leadership and is a great position to run for senate and become leader or run for president and pull the entire party left, which is much more difficult as an outsider.

She’s the future of the party, no doubt about it. Love how strategic the pair of them have been!

Too put it simply, shes focusing on building influence in Washington. While leaning on people like Mamdani to fill out the ranks. Which I think is the right move for someone angling for a presidential run if not in 2028 2032

It feels like she can throw her weight around being on of the more popular politicians in congress than she has been. I prefer how Ro Khanna is moving casting a wider net and when he wins big he looks like a genius like his ME2 endorsement winning. She just seems like she moves too slow for what is clearly going to be a continued reckoning for the party. She also makes endorsements to people that wouldnt back her for pres like Spanberger sometimes and its just kinda gross. One endorsement i think she would be stupid not to make is Elijah Manley. Not even Jeffries is endorsing DWS and Ro has already jumped in that race. Manley is also winning a lot of the polls and she needs better numbers from the black population. It feel like its the easiest win to get a black progressive in there and help fight a carpetbagger DNC op.

She was once one that started with no support. She knows the uphill battle for progressives. I think she needs to endorse the progressive candidates.

She seems to be positioning herself to reshape and eventually lead her caucus (even if she eventually moves to the senate). That requires building working relationships with moderates and progressives alike. She's playing the long game and doing a pretty decent game at it. Quite frankly, Zohran is also playing politics quite effectively. It's reassuring that they see themselves as allies and not rivals and are systematically pulling in the same direction.

I think the big thing is she garnered a huge name recognition and does not act boldly with it when other progressives with lower profiles do. It's not "stupid" or anything, but it does lack the kind of momentum other parts of the movement are building. She does fine I suppose, but she's being left in the dust by other parts of the movement when it felt like she had a lot more potential in the past.

she has terrible instincts about when to be quiet and friendly with Dem establishment figures. the biggest example is how she endorsed Biden just days before he dropped out. same with how she pivoted on immigration when Biden was elected

honestly I'm so glad the activists are putting the pressure on. it gives AOC and Zohran the opportunity to say "see they're not happy with me, i need to be careful so I can only do so much". kinda the inverse of what democrats do to the left to appease Republicans
