My teacher’s tried to pull this. My parents told them that I had been reading FAR above the normal level for years and if they wanted to take the time out of their day to find me a book, to have at it. Their words were “we talk to our daughter. We know what she’s reading”

My 10th grade English teacher had us pick a book to read and do a report on each quarter. I had transferred to her class from another teacher’s after already picking Shakespeare’s Love’s Labour’s Lost. New teach said it was too short. There was a minimum page requirement. No exceptions. Was the book available in the school library? My junior high school library carried a bunch of Stephen King, 1984 by George Orwell, Wifey by Judy Blume which contained graphic sex scenes, and plenty of other older-age content novels. I checked out all of them, btw, lol

I had a teacher concerned once becasue at age 10 I was reading Watership Down, which has some really graphic details and my copy even had pencil drawings. but it was never taken off me or a parent called about it. BTW great book.
