After cross-exam today, Assistant District Attorney Jennifer Sprague questioned psychiatrist Jennifer Tufts about Clancy's activities in the weeks before she killed her three young children. Sprague focused on Clancy's overall wellbeing to support the prosecution's case that Clancy, though experiencing postpartum depression, was not psychotic and should be convicted of murder for the Jan. 24, 2023, deaths of 5-year-old Cora, 3-year-old Dawson and 8-month old Callan. Tufts testified in direct and cross about her meetings with Clancy and discussions about prescription medications including Zoloft and Seroquel. This clip is from re-direct, and Sprague asked questions not so that jurors could hear Tufts' answers but so that they could hear her questions. I'm sure people in the comments will be upset that Tufts didn't know any of this, but Sprague's point is to highlight for jurors how functioning and overall fine Clancy was in the days before she killed her children. After cross-exam today, Assistant District Attorney Jennifer Sprague questioned psychiatrist Jennifer Tufts about Clancy's activities in the weeks before she killed her three young children. Tufts answered no to: "Were you aware that she had gone to the Museum of Science with her family on January 8 and spent a few hours there interacting with the exhibits and the children?" "Were you aware on January 15, the day before that session, she had been to the Cape Codder down in Hyannis with the family, interacting with the kids and going down little water slides and all of that?" "Were you aware that on January 14, she watched all three kids while Pat went to a brunch and was fine?" "Were you aware that on January 16, her husband took Cora skiing and she was alone with the boys all day and had no issues?" "You were asked about the thyroid and how that can affect mental health in postpartum. Were you aware that at both South Shore Hospital and Brigham and Women's Hospital, her thyroid limits were in normal range?" Sprague asked why she didn't recommend Clancy be evaluated at a hospital when she last saw her on Jan. 23, 2023, one day before the killings. "Because she was completely denying any suicidal ideation or homicidal ideation. There were no signs of psychosis or mania, so there were no serious signs that her safety or that anyone else's safety was at risk," Tufts answered. "And during that session, did she ever tell you that she planned to harm herself or the children?" Sprague asked. "No," Tufts answered.
