if you want to take the apology you go ahead. but everyone doesn't have the right to apologize. you actually don't have to give that energy to people that have hurt you. I'm 42 and wish I realized that about 20 years sooner. if talking to them isn't going to make you feel any better you don't have to. I've never regretted a time I decided a person no longer has access to me but I have regretted giving mental energy to people for no other than to make them feel better.

If you want a script For apologies like this, I like to use “I appreciate that.” The end. You’re not saying thank you, offering forgiveness, or saying it’s okay, but you are acknowledging the action and putting a period on the situation.
