My husband put a theory, Jessi was released in 1955, Emily drove off in a classic car around that time. Emily’s daughter is Andy’s Mom, Andy is Emily Grandson hence why Andy like cowboys toys. When he told me that I cried even more😭😭😭💖.

Dad here, I took my 3 daughters to go see it today. When this scene came on, I felt my eyes start to get wet. I looked at my oldest in her seat and she had her knees up to her chest just hugging them and could tell she was feeling it.

Jessie*was* here... "Jessie, you will always be My Little cowgirl" box buried underground. it's obviously left implied, but I think this is a mother's way of coping with her daughter passing. taking everything back to where it all started when she had her toy when she was a kid that she named a daughter after. very emotional moment for Pixar, that was my immediate thought in the cinema and it made me cry really hard, this is obviously not confirmed, but I like that it's left implied, you can take it anyway your heart wants to believe.

i think it just a time capsule for jessie(emily's daughter-named after jessie(toy)) no one passed away, it just shows that emily named her daughter after her favorite toy

I had to physically stop myself from SOBBING! I knew were it was going when I saw the carving in the tree. I thought to myself “SHE NAMED HER DAUGHTER AFTER JESSIE!!” Then when she said it tears started pouring down my face and I just grabbed my daughter and held her 🥲. I loved the Jessie centric approach 🫶🏼.
