I normally don’t post negative reviews, but after what happened tonight, I feel other families deserve to know before spending their hard-earned money. We are currently staying at New World Resort Villa Phu Quoc for 9 nights. We paid extra for an upgraded villa near the beach and pool, and throughout our stay we have spent a significant amount of money on food, activities, excursions, and resort services. Tonight, after spending the entire day at a theme park, my four children were exhausted, hungry, and ready for bed. Like any parent, all I wanted was to get them fed and settled in for the night. Because my children are American-born and picky eaters, and after eating the same limited menu options for over a week, I bought fried chicken from outside the resort for them. When we returned, resort staff stopped us and told us we were not allowed to bring the food into our villa. I explained that my children were tired and hungry. I offered to sign a waiver accepting full responsibility for the food. I wasn’t asking for a refund, a discount, or special treatment. I was simply asking to feed my kids in the private villa I paid thousands of dollars to stay in. The answer was still no. What made absolutely no sense was being told that I could eat the exact same food in the lobby, but not inside my villa. If the concern is food safety, how does eating it in the lobby make any difference? Even more confusing, I was told that some guests bring outside food in hidden bags and staff simply don’t see it. So apparently the rule depends on whether someone gets caught carrying food openly. As a mother of four, I found the complete lack of flexibility and understanding extremely disappointing. The villa also does not provide basic family conveniences such as a microwave, plates, or utensils. For families traveling with children, these things matter. The most upsetting part was when I started recording my experience and was warned that I could be sued if staff members appeared in my video. I have stayed in countless hotels, resorts, villas, and homestays around the world. I have never experienced anything like this at a property that promotes itself as a luxury 5-star family resort. If you are traveling with young children, especially picky eaters, I strongly encourage you to research the resort’s food policies before booking. For my family, this has been one of the most disappointing experiences of our trip, and unfortunately, it will be our first and last stay here.#newworldphuquocresort #phuquoc #villa #upset @New World Phu Quoc Resort
