A word being correct is not it’s etymology, it is its usage. And because almost the whole world uses the word football it’s the most correct in a global context

This made sense at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, when all types of football were equally unpopular. But as football/soccer outclassed all other sports, it became the default type of football. Sports such as rugby have never reached many countries around the world

I hope people see this: the logic behind this is correct, but the outcome isn’t. It’s called football.

I'm aware that they started calling soccer in England. It developed as a nickname for Association Football and was used for a long time. But that doesn't mean it's the correct name of the sport.
The formal name was Association Football. Both football and soccer are derived from that, and both were used in Britain at the same time. Eventually, the UK largely settled on football as the common name, while countries with other football codes kept using soccer to avoid confusion.
So if the country that created the sport used both terms and eventually settled on football, I don't see a strong argument for claiming that soccer is somehow the proper name while football is not.

That's literally an etymological fallacy. Tho the history is interesting, saying this is the **correct** name is completely wrong
