@allie_voss: I will always advocate for being as safe as possible when you’re out in public. Cover your drink, watch your friends’ drinks, and be careful around strangers! Still, sometimes the biggest danger is…you. Antidepressants have real risks and restrictions that people too often ignore, and it’s showing up in the research in terms of data on who’s actually being targeted versus…doing it to themselves.

Yeah "taking responsibility for my own actions" is increasingly rare. Better to blame someone else.

Alcohol mixed with diet mixers can also make your BAC higher than when mixed with regular mixes also

I've felt relatively sober one second and then black out drunk the next. All through alcohol and by my own doing. You never know how it hits you. It's always good to inform friends on peer safety and always go out with friends who you trust to take care of you.

Bars should sell their drinks in sippy cups so not only are the drinks safe, but it’ll also be really funny

people don't take warnings on med bottles seriously, especially about not consuming alcohol 🫤 if you see that on the bottle and you still want to drink, talk to your doc or pharmacist, at least you can figure out how bad of an idea it is before you just go for it. in the US, many pharmacies have a call line that you can call and pull up your file and tell you what potential interactions there might be. it's even helpful if a doc gives you an antibiotic and you're trying to confirm it's safe to take with something like OTC meds.

Yes, I’ve always thought that. Being a lifelong heavy drinker, I can tell you that alcohol will hit you weirdly at different times. With nothing else in your system, especially when you’re fairly new at drinking. You’re drinking strong alcohol you think you only had one or two and you wake up after passing out on the grass.

Just want to clarify that alcohol being a depressant doesnt mean it makes you depressed in the same way as an antidepressant treats depression. Its the same word but completely different meanings in 2 different contexts.

Thank you for addressing this. Many people don't realize the seriousness of mixing antidepressants or psychiatric drugs with alcohol. There are many that can cause really bad side effects and issues when mixed.

Drinking alcohol with medications of some kind is just a really bad idea. Energy drinks + alcohol tend to lead to alcohol poisoning which is dangerous af.
