They postpone their own final entry into Nirvana out of compassion, choosing to remain in the cycle of rebirth to help all sentient beings reach liberation. This is not a denial of enlightenment but an expression of its deepest nature. True awakening is not a private escape. It is the realization that you and all beings are one.
