To those who stood outside, thank you. When our son passed, we too had local business owners/employees, former coworkers, first responders, and police who stood outside while we passed specifically for our boy and honestly it was beautiful and something we all remembered. For one small moment it reminded us that we weren’t alone. You will never know the impact that small gestures make but please know your kindness was not unnoticed.

I grew up in Indianapolis and in my experience you stop for a procession. The only exception I remember is if you’re on a major highway. Which usually they avoid them as much as possible.

In my area… if I am walking and see an oncoming procession I stop and turn toward the street until it passes. To show silent respect and love for the decedent AND the mourning family. BE RESPECTFUL!
