i agree with you, but also i think it's a bit incorrect to say that Greek paganism had nothing to do with Roman paganism because their deities were the same, especially during the Roman Empire. so yeah the Aphrodite statues with the crosses might as well be Venus and the other person's point would stand (im not justifying it i'm just pointing it out). if i said anything wrong let me know [awkward]

mind you that's not even why most Greek or Roman (I'm not sure abt the Roman bit) statues were destroyed. When Christians began destroying loads more statues,artefacts etc belonging to some pagan groups like Greeks, Christians were literally made legal by Constantine and they were the major religious group at the time so their suffering had already passed and they were now praised and loved by most people. They destroyed statues because of their beliefs like thinking the statues held evil spirits, wanting to prove that their God is above the other Gods/Goddesses, not wanting the statues to influence the public, wanting to 'kill' the pagan Gods by destroying the statues, etc. This may be horribly wrong but I searched it up and it said that when MOST, not all, statues were destroyed it wasn't because of Christians revolting although some were destroyed because of that aswell
