My understanding is that because the numbing cream blocks your pain receptors, you don’t get the adrenaline pain relief that you would normally get, so when the numbing cream wears off, you get hit with everything that’s been done so far like a ton of bricks. Your body doesn’t have time to react to it, so you don’t get the adrenaline release and pain relief. Then you just have to sit there for 15-30 minutes while your adrenaline kicks in again. Might be good for smaller pieces or fine lines, but I wouldn’t use it for larger or more aggressive pieces.

I’m up like 15 tattoos now never used numbing cream but I’m using it for my hand tattoo , some areas are just too much😂

Honestly the artist makes all the difference. I’ve had two artist work on the same thing one started one finished because the first person was so heavy handed, the second person I fell asleep.
