@andrewmholness: We have to change how we see ourselves in the global order. No one is coming to save us, and no one owes us anything. That is what independence truly means. The world operates on national interest. Every country is focused on its own priorities, and we must do the same for Jamaica. We cannot expect others to pursue our interests for us. We must be intentional and disciplined in how we pursue our own. This also means we must be honest about how development and reconstruction are financed. It will come from the taxes we collect, from responsible borrowing, and from investment by people who see value in what we are building here. We should not rely on charity. Aid is limited and cannot be the foundation of our progress. Everything we do must make economic sense and be managed wisely.
