Kidnapping: about 25,000–30,000 women a year in the U.S. Physical assault by an intimate partner: 1.5–4.8 million women a year. That’s why so many of us stay on guard the moment we’re approached, especially when we’re vulnerable, even something as small as wearing headphones. So I’ll ask honestly, because I want to understand it from your side too: if you were in my position, how would you have handled it?
