Tbh I don’t think this cast is boring it’s the poor production, for all the reasons you mentioned, that this season feels off; lack of bombshells and dates, the same challenge over and over again, and not showing conversations where they’re getting to know each other bc then we barely know anything about the islanders.

Hot take but I think the cast got boring and locked in because anyone who is single immediately gets eliminated. Idk why nobody gets to be vulnerable right now they just get sent home, all that does is create incentives to stay with the person they are with so they don’t have to go home. Encourages everyone not to explore
