As a farmer, I’m so happy someone finally found the chemical facts around glyphosate and told the public that it’s not the problem. The government is

As a dork with an Env Sci degree, if used correctly, it's not bad for the environment either. *Hard* emphasis on correctly.

I worked in an agriculture lab for about a year. All produce is tested for glyphosate. The amount allowed in produce is highly regulated.

Alcohol is poisoning more people every day than glyphosate will in a lifetime. I have no intention of giving up beer or soy sauce or tofu

People fixate so much on glyphosate but seem oblivious to the fact that there are SO many more herbicides, insecticides and fungicides uses in agriculture, some of which are a lot nastier than glyphosate. I try to minimize what I use on my crops because my family and I are out in the field literally every day, but I still have to use some things and glyphosate concerns me way less than some of the insecticides that DO bioaccumulate.

same thing with plants. they metabolize it (as long as they are bred to be resistant) and many other chemicals and get rid of it long before you consume it. that's why there's restrictions on how close to harvest you can spray.

problem is it's not just in the fruit snymore. I would wager the exposure is higher now making us closer to harmful levels.

The demonization of Glyphosate is 100% related to the fear mongering about GMOs (GMOs corn was engineered to be resistant to it). 🥺

we (university studies)have found that soil microbes eat glyphosate and decompose it.

glysofate is not in your food because it was not sprayed on the food that you eat it maybe sprayed on the plant before the food that the plant produces the food that you eat

That list is basically just describing where you'll find higher levels of any rapidly eliminated substance. Colon and liver cause of absorption and first pass, dilutes in plasma and is found in secretions, concentrates in the kidneys as it's eliminated in urine. I bet they just read a random study on kinetics and distribution and didn't bother looking at what expected distribution would be for any rapidly eliminated substance.

I agree with physiology of bioaccumulation, but I think what is actually concerning is that it's detectable chronically which means that your exposure is ubiquitous
