@mattbarnes: Big Boy sits down and shares the deeply personal and historically significant story of the first time he met Tupac Shakur and what that initial encounter revealed to him about the magnetic and larger than life presence that made Tupac one of the most compelling and culturally important figures hip hop has ever produced. He reflects on what stood out most during that first meeting and what the energy and authenticity Tupac brought into the room told him about the kind of generational talent and voice the culture was dealing with even before the full scope of his impact had been fully realized by the wider public. Big Boy delivers the story with the genuine reverence and nostalgia of someone who understood even in the moment that he was in the presence of someone special, offering fans a rare and humanizing glimpse into an early interaction with one of the most mythologized and permanently influential artists in the history of hip hop.

DJ Klark Gable: from the group "51.50 Illegally Insane" tells a legendary story. When 2Pac Brought Digital Underground to Marin City One of the most legendary, unwritten chapters of Bay Area hip-hop history involves the day Tupac—fresh off hitting the big time—decided to bring his new family back to his old stomping grounds. By 1991, Tupac had joined forces with Oakland's alternative hip-hop heavyweights, Digital Underground, making his explosive recording debut on the hit single "Same Song". Wanting to show love to the community that embraced him when he first touched down in California, Pac arranged for the entire Digital Underground crew—including Shock G and Money B—to come out to a local event in Marin City. The energy in Marin City aka the "Jungle" was already electric because Vallejo's own rising star, Mac Dre, was in town to perform. Before he became the undisputed king of the Thizz Nation and the "Crest Keeper," a young Mac Dre was tearing up the Bay Area underground with his raw, distinct flow. As DJ Klark Gable recalls, the collision of these distinct worlds inside Marin City created an unforgettable moment of pure, unified Bay Area culture. You had Vallejo's street-level, independent blueprint represented by Mac Dre, meeting Oakland's theatrical, mainstream-bound energy from Digital Underground, all brought together by a young, fiercely loyal Tupac Shakur bridging the gap for his hometown crowd. It remains a testament to a golden, untouched era. To hear the full story subscribe to "On Set With Ahku Unscripted" only on YouTube July 26th. We thank you for your support.
