@mightyyyymouse: 5 things a narcissist trained you to do that you swear are just your personality. I lived every one of these, so read them slow. Narcissistic abuse does not announce itself. It rewires you quietly, until the damage starts to feel like who you are. It is not.It was trained into you. 1. You people-please on autopilot. You scan the room and become whatever keeps everyone calm, before you even ask what you want. You call it being nice. It is not nice. It is a survival skill you built to stay safe. 2. You can't just say no. It comes with three reasons and an apology attached, because the last time you said it plain, it cost yo something. 3. You apologize when someone bumps into YOU. You say sorry to furniture. Somebody taught you that every wrong thing in the room is your fault. That is not your personality. That is conditioning, and it runs deep. 4. You go silent to keep the peace. You swallow what you feel because it is safer than the fight. You call yourself easygoing. You are not easygoing. You are bracing. 5. You get suspicious when someone is good to you. When they are kind you wait for the catch, because every good thing you ever got came with a bill on the back end. Here is the truth nobody told you. None of this is your personality. It was installed by someone who needed you small, quiet, and easy to control. Gaslighting does that. It does not break you in one night, it swaps you out one piece at a time. It is not your fault. And every single one of these can be undone. You weren’t born this way. You were trained this way. Message me FREEDOM and I’ll send you the blueprint with the 4 steps to get out #narcissist #narcissisticabuse #narcissisticabuserecovery #Love #viral

I have retrained myself to say “excuse me” rather than “sorry” when I bump into someone. It takes so much effort to change these things after years of abuse.

I apologize for everything.. I cannot help it, it comes so natural. Recently I had the sweetest lady ask why I apologized on something so simple, my answer to her was I’m sorry.

This is true!!! I wasn’t like this AT ALL when I married him. When I divorced him 27 years later I didn’t recognize myself. I can truly say I do not do any of these things now!! Thank God!

How about “can’t remember what I really said because he is telling me what I said”

I had to relearn how to live when I left. I have now been in a healthy relationship for almost 4 years and sometimes I will still apologize for things I did not do. and my honey will say why are you apologizing and it makes me think... and he will kiss me and tell me it's all alright
