Tis’ was a busy spring, which at this point seems to be less of a season and more of a permanent lifestyle. Apparently, when you reach a certain age and rank, the concept of “rest” is quietly removed from your vocabulary. So what do you do? Hold on tight and enjoy the ride! I kicked off the season by trekking to Hawaii for a quick surf, a hike up a volcano, and just enough island time to convince myself I was relaxing. Then it was straight to Washington, followed by several appearances in Spokane, a work trip to Colorado, and a necessary detour to Red Rocks for a little music therapy. Somewhere in the middle of all that, I hopped over to West Virginia to retire a good friend and send him off into his next chapter of life. After decades of hard work and service, he’s finally free to pursue his true calling: waking up without an alarm clock and reminding the rest of us how much happier he is than we are. Because clearly I wasn’t tired enough, I then planted my happy ass on a 17 hour flight to South Korea for a little adventure on the other side of the globe. I even took a few days for myself at the end of the trip. Naturally, my version of relaxation involved hiking up another mountain. Truth be told, I spent most of the spring anywhere but my domicile. But when I was home, I made a point to slow down long enough to admire the cherry blossoms and appreciate how beautiful this place can be. Along the way, I made some incredible memories, crossed paths with some amazing people, and said “so long” to a few good ones (never goodbye….just so long for now). A lot of miles, very little rest, and countless memories 😊
