Do you guys know that Gauze is named after Gaza? The word “gauze” is widely believed to come from Gaza, the ancient city in Palestine. Gaza was historically famous for its fine, thin, loosely woven fabrics, which were exported throughout the Mediterranean and beyond. European traders associated the material with its place of origin, and over time, the word evolved into “gauze” in English and other languages.
