My understanding is that souls don’t necessarily reincarnate immediately after death. Many teachings suggest they spend time in the spirit realm with their soul family, and often choose future incarnations together. So a loved one can still exist in spirit while future incarnations are being planned.

I always wondered this. My dad died in 1989 when he was 33. I used to get visits from him frequently. When I was 33 on his death anniversary, he came into my dream with important messages about his death and then I never had another visit since. I kinda figured he went off to reincarnate. This is a cool thought.

I’ve always thought if it like a tree and its branches and trunk roots . My son passed away and it has helped me grieve him thinking that his soul was much bigger than the branch of the tree he physically lived here . His entire soul has so many branches and tree trunks I cannot see or understand and I think that’s beautiful.
