@belovedcabin: We’ve been here for over 10 years. When we bought this land, it was nothing but overgrown trees and bushes. Now we have fruit trees and grow our own food. We turned a storage shed into a home. We collect rainwater, use solar power, poop in a composting toilet, and spend most of our time taking care of rescued animals. 14 years ago, we left Miami with just $1,000. We moved into an old camper on leased land and stayed there while saving up enough money to buy our own place. This life takes time. It takes even longer when you’re doing it on a limited budget. A lot of people see where we are now, but they don’t see the years of hauling water, making mistakes, learning new skills, and slowly building one project at a time. We’re not special. We’re just stubborn enough to keep going. If you’re dreaming about a different life, we’re living proof that it can be done.
