The way I like to think about it is agency vs autonomy. Autonomy is the power to make a choice within a social structure that has power over you. They are making a choice, sure, but it’s a choice dictated by the patriarchy that then prevents them from growing into agency. Agency is making a choice to exist in a way that allows you more freedom from patriarchy, not become dependent on it

Honestly, I am very satisfied with my life trajectory right now. I went to college, graduated with honors. lived in Europe, lived in five states, and traveled around the world. worked corporate jobs, retail jobs, restaurant jobs, was a living nanny, and now live back home with my mom as my dream job of a stay at home daughter.. And I do not have to take care of a male. But I always know I have options if that ever changes.
