I built a double bed frame about 20 years back and it is still strong A bed bace cost about R10000 in South Africa so it is a lot cheaper to build your own

wood is strong, but screwing in end frame screw will come loose in bed frame, use bed bolts instead, reason why they invented bed bolts. And wood is not cheap. Gluce and counter sund the screw heads then fill to look smooth
