And also, people keep changing the definition of "what love island is about." But in reality, Love Island is whatever experience the islanders choose. Like, one of the parts of this "social experiemnt" is that everyone has a different view of how their experience will be, & they have to navigate that with someone who might have a veryyyy different view of that (much like dating!) Like, I do think people are being annoying trying to police how the islanders navigate the experience, the votes, etc. It's always been apart of the game (whether it be prioritizing friendships, being aggressive with their courting, voting based off different views, etc.)

It's Hot People Island. We watch hot people meet other hot people and be hot people together. The premise is "love" sure, but we watch the hot people forming all kinds of relationships with the other hot people, that includes hot people friendships. The hot girl friendships are one of the best parts of the hot people show!

oml thank you! I am so tired of seeing ppl say that when one of the biggest moments in this show was JaNa being saved from elimination cuz of the friendships she formed. they didnt even CONSIDER her. when your fellow islanders can vote you out, ALL relationships matter!

It’s how Andrea got dumped versus Nicole. Andrea didn’t care to make friends with the girls. She spent all her time with Rob, and the few times she did talk to the other girls was in connection to their couples (kind of) but not as ppl outside their connection. Nicole made an effort to connect with the girls outside her connection and their connection. So yeah! Andrea went home. Yeah! Gabe went home. Maybe part of it was bc their friend just left three days ago and you’re already knocking boots with someone else, AND I’m not getting enough sleep. I’m sorry but you’re going home. Even the "universal sweethearts" of Love Island (Justine, Cashay, Uma, etc.) all survived on that show in part because of the deep friendships they had (and Justine pulled 2 wins partially because she was universally loved by multiple people in both seasons.)

💯💯💯 This is why I love the sociology experiment of this show. Love can be...platonic. So yes it is also Friendship Island. People have to love being around you, they have to LIKE YOU. The Girls saved Corbin because they LIKED Kenzie. They saved Caleb because they LIKED CALEB.

It’s not friendship island but Serena ran up on Liv, Kaylor and Rob for Leah. It’s not friendship island but when Olandria was sent home, them heauxs cried for twenty days and night. Love is friendship and to have friendships with love is a blessing that a romantic relationship can’t even touch.
