I heard this one time and it totally changed my opinion on when to read it! Read assassins blade first if you want to experience celeana’s story along side her. Read it 4th if you want to hear her story when she’s ready to tell you.

I read TAB after Heir of Fire and it was EVERYTHINGGGG. That’s how I ALWAYS tell people to do it as well!!!!

Third 100% third! No is no other way! If you start first your not given enough detail about who Celaena really is, there isn’t enough character development because your already meant to know. Also the lead up to the ending is all the more heartbreaking as you know it is coming.

i read assassins blade 4th and i fully regret that i did that. i wish i read assassins blade first. (technically assassins blade came out first but as individual novellas and then they made it as one book and released it later which is why it’s “published later” but technically it’s not and it came out first. but i wish i read assassins blade before throne of glass. 🫠

I actually learned recently that assassins blade was technically released first just not in the format we see it. The individual novellas were released leading up to throne of glasses official release. It just wasn’t until after either COM or HOF that they put it all in one book

I loved reading AB first because I would've had beef with Celaena if I didn't. Also my boy Sam, he made me appreciate Rowan that much more 😭❤️

AGREEEED!! I tried reading AB first, but it wasn’t a normal linear novel, so it made no sense and I had no attachment to the characters and I just got bored and confused. Then I stopped and switched to TOG and like it WAY better reading that first. It sets up the story properly, and I think you’re right that we’re just not meant to know the backstories yet.
